After chasing this goal for the past five years, I finally booked my first two Network co-star television roles. I wanted to share that Jamie’s audition coaching and the co-star power hours were hugely helpful!! Jamie is so knowledgeable and supportive and really helps you with your confidence and offers insights and little tweaks to help you with your co-star auditions. One piece of advice that was particularly helpful and really stuck with me is about something called a “negativity bias”. She explained that as Actors and even in society, we often have this. Even if the breakdown doesn’t specifically call for our character to be angry or standoffish or otherwise negative, we tend to gravitate towards that. She told me that generally speaking, unless it’s very clear that that’s what they’re going for, to not fall into this trap and go out with love instead. I recently booked a co-star role on the iconic show Law & Order and heard Jamie‘s voice in my head when doing the audition. Because of her coaching, I chose to portray my character with compassion and it paid off! Jamie is also just such a kind and compassionate person. She truly makes you feel comfortable and reminds you that Casting Directors are special people who just want you to succeed. I highly recommend coaching with her and popping into the co-star power hours every so often to brush up on your skills.
